Area Overview
Waterbeach Village is 5 miles north of Cambridge. It is a fairly large village and has all the necessary amenities, i.e. Butchers, bakers, 2 hairdressers, 3 pubs, Chinese takeaway, post Office, 2 convenience stores, a tandoori restaurant/takeaway a chemist and a fish and chip shop. The Service Families Area is a 10 - 15 minute walk to the village Centre.

Situated just off the A10 from Cambridge to Ely and King's Lynn, five minutes from the A14 and 15 from the M11, Waterbeach is well-placed on the road network. There is a railway station with regular trains to Cambridge, London, Ely and King's Lynn, and a reasonable bus service, including the park and ride into Cambridge.

The Barracks has a well-equipped gym with the usual collection of exercise machines. There is a 9-hole golf course, which has a full time green keeper and is open to both military and limited civilian membership. From May to September the outdoor pool is open in the Barracks although this facility is currently out of order (as of April 2010 - no repair date as of yet).
Shopping and Tourism
As well as the local village shops, there is a large Tesco in Milton, 10 minutes drive from the barracks, and Cambridge under 30 minutes away by car, train or bus. There are a multitude of day-out possibilities in both Cambridge and Ely.
