Area Overview
Upavon is situated in the heart of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside between Netheravon and Pewsey on the main A345. You are centrally located for the West Country due to the A303 being 20 minutes south and for Wales with the M4 30 minutes north.
There are two main towns Salisbury and Swindon which are both 40 minutes by car however you do have Andover which has all the main banks and building societies, major food chain stores and a few superstores.
Children and Education
there are small community primary schools in the local villages surrounding Upavon.
Pewsey Vale School is 6 miles away in Pewsey itself and caters for children from the ages of 11-16. At 16 pupils have a choice of courses in local colleges and 6th forms. A bus service is provided from the camp which leaves around 0815hrs and returns at 1630hrs.

The camp has a small gate that opens out onto Upavon Golf Course. Membership rates are reasonable and a 2-fore-1 in the weekday is only £18.
Shopping and Tourism
Whilst some provisions can be purchased at the Spar or the Village Store, for the larger weekly shop you will have to travel further a field. Andover has a Tesco Superstore, Sainbury, Waitrose and an Asda. Devizes also has a Sainsbury, Tesco(small), Somerfield, LIDL. Marlborough has a Waitrose and in Tidworth there is also large Tesco and LIDL. Should you wish to go out for a day’s shopping, there is Bath, Swindon, Salisbury, Bristol and Basingstoke all within 1 hours drive.
