Area Overview
Strensall Station is based on Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Strensall the home of HQ 2 Med Bde, 34 Field Hospital, HQ Strensall Training Centre, 9 Cadet Training Team, AMS FTC, Kings Division Recruiting Team, Army Youth Team, The Garrison Dental Centre and other smaller units. Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall is situated just off the York bypass A1237/ A64 approximately 7 miles from York City centre. Just outside of the wire is Families accommodation on small estates and a community centre. Hurst Hall Community Centre can be found on Border Road in Strensall. The Community Centre provides a wide range of activities and clubs for children and families, located within the centre is HIVE and Stepping Stones Pre School.
Children and Education
Robert Wilkinson is the Primary School in the village. The nearest Secondary School is Huntington, which is also the best state school in York, and one of the best state schools in the country.
Transport and Travel
The number 5 bus runs from just around the corner from York Station to Strensall. Every 15 minutes usually.

Battle Flatts is the locl vet, as well as Willow Grove in Earswick on the road to town.

The Six Bells is the pub of choice in Strensall. The Ship is full of local chavs, and the Half Moon is for farmer types.

Monks Cross is the local retail park, 5 minutes drive from Strensall. Clifton Moor is another one, Mcarthur Glen is the nearest Designer outlet, 10 minutes around the ring road. Strensall has a Tesco Express, a Boots Chemist, a butcher (John and Eyvonnes), a few barbers and a hairdressers, as well as two garages, a petrol station and a news agents. There is also a chip shop and a Chinese take away.
