Scampton is situated on the A15, 4 miles north of Lincoln City centre. The nearest village Welton has many amenities including shops, post office, hairdressers, primary & secondary schools, playgroups, doctors, dentist, vets, pet shop, pubs, churches, Golf Club & sports fields. Local groups include beavers, cubs, scouts, brownies, guides, youth club, many sports clubs & much more!
Children and Education
Scampton – Scampton Playmates (full day care facility) and Pollyplatt Primary School are both located on the SFA site.
Transport is provided to the nearest Secondary schools in the area although there is a charge for 6th form students. For information on admissions into your nearest school, contact the Local Education Authority (LEA) - Lincolnshire LEA (01522) 553229 for primary and (01522) 553226 for Secondary.
Transport and Travel
The nearest major railway station to RAF Scampton is Lincoln providing access to Nottingham and connections to Newark which has a direct train to Kings Cross, London. The local bus service from RAF Scampton gives access to both Lincoln and Scunthorpe.
Kirton in Lindsey is situated off B1398 & B1206 and is approximately 20 minutes drive to Scunthorpe.
A station shuttle bus is available Monday to Friday to transport service personnel only to RAF Scampton from RAF Kirton in Lindsey and vice versa.

Medical and Dental
Welton Family Health Centre serves the families of RAF Scampton. The Station Medical Centre at RAF Scampton is for all serving personnel only. Please be aware registering with a dentist can be problematic in Lincolnshire.
Sports and Leisure
There are many local sports & activity groups. Kirton Village is an easy 10 minutes walk from the RAF Kirton in Lindsey.
The Station Gymnasium & Officers Mess is also situated on the SFA site.
Shopping and Tourism
RAF Scampton has a Spar shop on site. There is a medium sized Co-Op located within the village of Welton, however, Lincoln has all the major supermarket chains.
Scampton SFA site has a Spar shop & Post Office, which provide a cash machine. There is also a HIVE, Coffee Shop, Thrift Shop & local DE Housing office. The Hemswell Community Centre contains a HIVE, coffee Shop, hairdressers & Families Bar/Pub, to be opened shortly.
Many amenities & shops are available within the village including butchers, bakers, barbers, hairdresser's, doctors, dentist, pubs, hotels & much more!
