Medmenham is a mixed ranks SFA estate of 190 houses, most of which are of the traditional type, but there are also 52 new SFA’s which are mostly Type IV with a few Type III. It is located 12 miles south of RAF High Wycombe and Strike Command.
Area Overview
This area of Buckinghamshire is a very attractive part of the country in the heart of the Chilterns. There is easy access from the estate to walks in the countryside, woodland, or along the Thames Path. The nearest town is Marlow, a picturesque town with a beautiful park by the riverside. High Wycombe, Henley, Maidenhead and Reading, with the larger stores, cinemas, theatres etc, are all only a short drive away. Medmenham is ideally placed for days out in London, and for access to all London airports; Heathrow is 20 minutes away and Gatwick, Stansted and Luton up to an hour and a half away.
Children and Education
On the estate there is a crèche that takes children from 1-3 and a pre-school that takes children from 3 to school age. Danesfield Primary School is the closest primary school, adjacent to the estate. There are several other primary schools in Marlow. Buckinghamshire retains the grammar school system of secondary schooling. There are various comprehensive and grammar schools in the area.
Transport and Travel
The railway station in Marlow is the branch line for the main London/Reading route into Paddington. There is a train hourly during the day with extra trains during the ‘rush hour’. There is also a bus route which passes by the estate linking Reading and High Wycombe.

There is a large joint practice in Marlow where all dependents are registered. At the same location there are also various clinics including osteopathy, antenatal, etc. There are several dentists in High Wycombe that are still taking on NHS patients; the most popular NHS choice here is Henley Dental Practice.

There is a good selection of shops in Marlow; 2 miles away which includes various food outlets, clothes shops, banks, off licence and hairdressers. Further a field in High Wycombe is a slightly larger selection of shops with a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Maidenhead has similar facilities as High Wycombe. 25 minutes away is Reading with its attractively laid out shopping centre, food court alongside the river and large covered shopping mall, The Oracle. Here you will find a huge selection of stores including Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser plus all the usual high street stores and boutiques.
