Area Overview
RAF Marham is located in the County of Norfolk. It is situated between the towns of Kings Lynn and Downham Market. Norwich, Peterborough and Cambridge are the nearest large Cities. The camp is situated in a rural location, but has many facilities available.
Children and Education
The Rainbow Centre is a childcare facility located within the Quarters. The centre caters for all childcare needs including day care, preschool, before and after school clubs and holiday clubs. It is situated next to the Airfield
First School, which caters for children aged 4- 6.
Middle School is for children aged 7 – 11 and is in Marham Village.
High School is in Swaffham. Transport to the Middle and High School is available from the quarters, this needs to be pre-arranged
Transport and Travel
Public transport is limited. There is regular bus service into Kings Lynn, Monday – Saturday, but all other buses are infrequent. The MT section provides two free shopping buses each week into Kings Lynn, which are only available to Service Personnel and Dependants.
Pets
Medical and Dental
The Medical Centre can provide services to a limited number of Dependants, please contact them on arrival to see if you can register.
Dentists that are registering NHS Patients can be difficult to find, this is a national problem.
Sports and Leisure
Just outside the base there is a 10-pin bowling lane which is open to personnel and the public, and has a small restaurant attached to it.
Shopping and Tourism
There is a large Spar shop, a post office, Barbers, Hairdressers and Beauty Salon, Gift shop, Thrift shop, Library, Families Club and Bowl (opens as a Café in the mornings), DHE, SSAFA, Citizens Advice Bureau.
