Area Overview

Lossiemouth is a popular holiday resort having extensive stretches of sandy beach on either side of the town. It is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of the first Labour Prime Minister, Ramsay MacDonald. As well as having a Championship Golf Course, Lossiemouth also has excellent sailing and angling facilities.

The majority of quarters are situated in the Royal Burgh and market town of Elgin, situated 6 miles south of Lossiemouth. It is best known for its ruined cathedral of 1224.

Elgin has many amenities, which include the Library, a Leisure Centre with swimming pool/ice rink, and in Cooper Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Scotland. Elgin is the main shopping centre for the area, there are large supermarkets for the weekly shopping trip. Asda & Tesco are open 24 hrs. There is a Marks & Spencers Foodhall newly opened in 2005.
