Area Overview
RAF Brize Norton is situated in Carterton, West Oxfordshire which is a town with 19,000 residents. It lies in the Thames Valley and is surrounded by scenic countryside including the Cotswold area of outstanding natural beauty. Carterton is a thriving and rapidly expanding town with new housing, industrial and business areas being developed. New leisure and shopping facilities are being added to the many already established amenities.

RAF Brize Norton has facilities and equipment for all RAF recognised sports. The Physical Education Flight staffs are always willing to offer guidance on all aspects of sport and recreation. Within the Learning Centre is the Station library which has a computer based interactive learning centre that is open to service personnel, dependants and MOD civilians. The Station swimming pool is open to all personnel and dependants and includes a 25–metre pool, sauna and tanning cubicle. The Astra Bowl is a 12-lane ten-pin bowling centre; open to all personnel and the public, it offers reduced priced ten-pin bowling.
