Locations

The Bramcote area includes military facilities at the following locations:

There are 206 Married Quarters situated within the confines of the Camp. The majority are three bed roomed with some two and four bed roomed properties. There are no flats at Bramcote. Bramcote also has bulk hiring’s off camp and within the local area of Nuneaton.

Area Overview

Bramcote is situated between Nuneaton and Rugby. Nuneaton Town Centre being a 5 minute drive. Coventry City centre is a 10 minute drive, and the centre of Birmingham can be reached within 30 minutes. Tamworth, Warwick and Leicester are all within easy reach. There are the usual mess facilities including the Swan Club for junior ranks, Himali Club for the Gurkha Community and the 501 Club which caters for all ranks.

Children and Education

There is a weekly run parent and toddler group.

Gamecock Barracks falls within the Wolvey C of E School catchment area for children up to 10, and Nicolas Chamberlaine School (Bedworth) for children aged 11-19. Transport to these schools is free of charge and is provided by the LEA. There are other schools within the local area, however there is no free transport provided unless the schools within the catchment area are full. Nuneaton has a variety of public and private schools, many of which cater for Special Needs children.

Transport and Travel

Bramcote is central to a good motorway link; M6, M69, M1, M42 and M5 are all close by. A bus service runs from outside the camp gates into Nuneaton Town Centre and Coventry City Centre via Walsgrave Hospital; there are services to Bedworth and Hinckley from the town centre. There is a train station in Nuneaton for a variety of destinations including Coventry, Birmingham and Leicester; London can be reached within 2 hours. There are 3 airports within easy travelling distance, Birmingham International, Coventry City and East Midlands.

Pets

The 'Windbreaks' training area is immediately adjacent to the camp and is a perfect area for dog walking.

Medical and Dental

The main surgery is located at Brinklow (approx 15 mins by car). There are two local hospitals; George Eliot Hospital, and Walsgrave Hospital. There are several dentists in the Nuneaton area who do take NHS Patients.

Sports and Leisure

There is a host of facilities within station including a well equipped gymnasium, swimming pool Londis shop, hairdressing and beauty salon, library, thrift shop, pre-school and nursery, Jungle Gym, Coffee Shop, and youth club.

Shopping and Tourism

Nuneaton town centre has a variety of supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Co-op, Iceland and Netto and a variety high street stores. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays. A little further afield in Bedworth and Coventry there is a larger choice of shops including Tesco Express (24 hrs) and Toys R Us. Fosse Park is a large out of town retail centre around 20 minutes drive away. Birmingham’s Bull Ring can be reached within 30 minutes.

The novelist George Eliot was born in Nuneaton and for the amateur historian there are many places to visit including Arbury Hall at Nuneaton and Warwick Castle, Warwick.
