The Waddington area includes military facilities at the following locations:

RAF Waddington has 395 SFA, which are mainly located behind the wire. SFA can also be allocated at RAF Scampton (188 SFA) around 12 miles away from Waddington, RAF Digby (266 SFA) around 11 miles from Waddington, and RAF Cranwell (391 SFA) around 15 miles from Waddington; accommodation is available for all ranks.

Please note if you are allocated SFA at either RAF Digby or RAF Cranwell, there is no transport provided to Waddington from these bases.

Area Overview

RAF Waddington is located on the edge of Lincoln, situated beside the village of Waddington. The city of Lincoln is a short drive away, with all the main amenities a city offers. Waddington has regular bus services into Lincoln, connecting to good bus and rail network links throughout the country.

Waddington is within the DEOps Housing Northern Region, with allocations made by York. RAF Waddington has 395 Service Families Accommodation (SFA) which are mainly located behind the wire. SFA can also be allocated at RAF Digby (266 SFA) around 11 miles from Waddington, RAF Scampton (188 SFA) around 12 miles away from Waddington and RAF Cranwell (391 SFA) around 15 miles from Waddington. Accommodation is available for all ranks. Please note if you are allocated a SFA at either Digby or Cranwell, there is no transport provided to Waddington from these bases.

Children and Education

There is not a catchment area for schools at Waddington, however each school has their own admission policies.

Transport and Travel

  • Road: - Waddington is located on the A607, with easy access to the A15 and the A46.
  • Bus: - There is a good bus service from Waddington with various routes to Lincoln.
  • Rail: - Lincoln train station 4 miles.

Pets

Medical and Dental

The medical centre provides cover for all serving personnel. Dependants need to register at the local doctors practice.

The Dental Centre is only available for serving personnel.

Sports and Leisure

The Station has a recently built gym complex, a swimming pool, squash courts, tennis courts, 9-hole golf course and football pitches. There is an all ranks bar, which has a family room and an indoor play area. A Station hairdresser is available and a hair salon is located within the SFA area.

The Integrated Welfare Facility (IWF) is the home to the HIVE, Coffee Shop, SSAFA Personal Family and Support Worker, Community Development Worker, Kidz Club (before and after school care for primary aged children) and Thrift Shop. Waddington has a C of E Church located on the SFA site. There are various groups that meet on a regular basis including parent and toddlers, a youth club and scouting groups etc.

Shopping and Tourism

There are a few shops in the village including a sandwich shop, florist, pharmacy, Post Office, Budgens supermarket, newsagents, garage, barbers and two hairdressers. The village also has a small but very good Library.

Lincoln is on the doorstep; it has all the High Street names and many DIY outlets and large stores. Shopping within an hours drive; Sheffield, Grimsby, Peterborough, Hull, Nottingham. Small market towns nearby are Newark, Sleaford and Grantham.
